About the Role
The Visual Merchandising Intern will gain cross-functional exposure to Foxtrot’s merchandising, marketing, creative, and operations teams. The ideal candidate will have a career interest in merchandising and retail with an academic focus in fine arts, design, or marketing.

The Internship duration is a minimum of 10 weeks coinciding with a school semester; start and end dates are flexible based on the academic year. This position will be based in Chicago, and work will be completed both remotely as well as within Foxtrot retail locations.

This is an unpaid internship. Candidates must be able to receive qualified educational credit.

Learning Opportunities:

  • Learn how to execute planograms according to brand standards and best practices.
  • Create cohesive product stories at each store location through the buildout of in-store displays.
  • Coordinate distribution of signage, creative samples and product.
  • Visit stores to learn how to identifying opportunities in assortment mix, product placement & audits. 
  • Develop an understanding of grocery and alcohol requirements, in terms of shelving and labeling.
  • Interact with various departments including Store Ops, Marketing, Creative, Merchandising & Planning teams. 


  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mentality; able to take ownership of projects and see them through from inception to production.    
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize against quick timelines and high expectations.    
  • Strong academic record.    
  • Experience with Microsoft Office & Adobe Suite.    
  • Career interest in merchandising, buying retail, e-commerce or related field.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and enrolled at an accredited college or university.    
  • Must be able to receive college credit.
  • Must be based in Chicago.
