Seasonal Tax Preparer
Anderson, Lower, Whitlow, P.C. has a seasonal opening for a tax preparer (internship is also available). We are a local firm with a unique combination of highly technical, complex and challenging individual and corporate tax work, including multi-state filings. You will work as part of a seasoned team while preparing income tax returns with a vast array of clients, including manufacturing, construction and service industries.
Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in accounting, finance, business, or information technology is required. Ideal candidate will have ability to communicate with clarity, professionalism and sensitivity with co-workers and clients. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Possess sound judgement and good decision-making abilities.

Job Description
Your job duty will be to prepare federal and state tax returns for businesses and individuals in accordance with our firm policies and in compliance with the Internal Revenue Code, federal and state legislation and regulations.

To achieve these tasks you will need to:
Review clients’ tax documents and financial records
Prepare tax returns using electronic software
Verify that tax forms agree to source documents provided
Confirm that all exceptions and warnings per the tax software program have been addressed
Complete various work papers to provide reconciliation and tie out of tax forms to source documents
Update tax depreciation schedules with use of electronic software as needed

Firm procedure tasks:
Calculate and enter all time into electronic billing system for all project activities
Follow firm procedure needed to adequately track tax return projects from start through delivery to client
Adhere to strict confidentiality of all client documents and information
Ensure client source documents and work papers are properly filed in electronic virtual file cabinet

Skills required:
Proficient verbal and written communications skills (to communicate with tax staff and tax supervisors)
Computer proficiency with MS Office products
Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and accepted standard practices
