Gallery Manager

NYCH Gallery (pronounced 'niche) offers Contemporary art, paintings, sculptures, photography, fashion and interior designs that promote a level of comfort and understandable simplicity not usually known through the complexity of art. Overall, this innovative interesting blend of all things that are creative is relatable to any diverse bunch looking for a rich piece of inspiration. Mediums represented: painting drawing/sketches etching/intaglio screen prints, photography, mixed media, sculpture, murals, installation, film/video, performance, fashion, textiles, furniture collage, portraits, dance, and jewelry.

Part time paid position $20-25 hr 

The position is multi-faceted as it involves overseeing many different aspects: 

Logistics:

•   Ensuring the installation of the works of arts in the exhibition space
•   Arranging for their transport and storage
•   Arranging for loans with other art galleries
•   Managing inventory

PR and Communication:
•   Providing information to the visitors
•   Networking with art collectors and artists
•   Updating the gallery’s website and social media accounts
•   Arranging writing press releases

Sales:
•   Negotiating sales with clients
•   Planning and management

Hiring and managing volunteers / interns:
•   Staffing the gallery
•   Setting deadlines
•   Hold interns accountable

 Qualifications / Skills:
•   Art gallery manager should have great leadership qualities
•   Manage interns
•   plan financial budgets
•   efficiently perform administrative tasks
•   devise effective marketing strategies
•   handle queries
•   give presentations
•   He/she must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills; have practical knowledge in computer applications related to media, database, research, and office work; be updated in developments in the arts; as well as be able to professionally deal with artistic temperaments.
