Internship - Laboratory
Position Purpose: Responsible for assisting IVF lab, Main farm lab, media lab, and sterilization lab in their daily duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to aseptic handling techniques.
- Prepare fertilization and culture media plates.
- Accurately input searching, fertilization, culture, transfer, and freezing data into OvaDrive.
- Set up media and supplies for Ovum Pick Up searching.
- Make ear tags for recipient cows receiving embryos.
- Tear down incoming shipping incubators and prepare them for their next use.
- Turn on outgoing shipping incubators and manage them on the shipping board.
- Print shipping labels and call tags.
- Prepare clone kits as needed.
- Document and perform weekly and/or daily quality control checks of laboratory equipment including cleaning and maintenance of CO2 incubators, CO2 cylinders, warm plates, water baths, thermometers, gun warmers, Fyrite gas analyzers, etc.
- Monitors and records media lot numbers and expiration dates.
- Prepares supplies for freezing embryos including straws, cane and goblet labels according to Trans Ova policy and IETS protocol.
- Apply tops for large batches of media tubes as needed.
- Assist in the preparation and packaging supplies to be sterilized.
- Prepare dry shipper tanks for shipment by filling with liquid nitrogen.
- Follows Trans Ova’s policies and procedures.
- Maintains a professional image reflective of Trans Ova’s industry position.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education Requirements:
Minimum high school diploma or G.E.D.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Other skills/experience:
Must have valid driver’s license.
Must be able to operate a company vehicle.
Good communication skills.
