MITEI Policy Assistant

The MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI) links science, innovation, and policy to meet the energy challenges of the 21st century and transform the world’s energy systems. We provide a critical link in the energy innovation chain – the pairing of MIT’s world-class research teams with the best in industry that will be responsible for moving the products of this collaboration into the energy marketplace (see energy.mit.edu/about for specific MIT research focus areas).
In addition to our research portfolio, MITEI has a strong education program. MITEI’s Education Office manages multi-disciplinary undergraduate and graduate programs and initiatives, such as the Energy Studies Minor and Society of Energy Fellows.
Job Description:
The ELO student will primarily support the MITEI Education Office in providing opportunities for members of the MITEI Society of Energy Fellows to:
- strengthen the interactions of Society of Energy Fellows across cohorts
- create mentorship pathways between Energy Fellows and energy leaders
- develop professional and leadership skills that are beyond traditional courses
- actively collaborate with lawmakers and communities on energy policy initiatives at the state, federal, and/or international level
- foster connections between fellows and government energy officials worldwide
Our programming will include monthly discussions, invited speakers at seminars, networking opportunities in the energy space, and relevant workshops.
Skills/Experience:
This job provides the opportunity to learn about energy systems, technologies, and policy, as well as course design and learning theory.
The ELO student will communicate with a range of audiences, and is expected to conduct his/her/their self with a high degree of professionalism.
