Interior Design Intern
Responsibilities:
- Performing specific project, interior design, space planning, and development tasks including drawings, FF&E selection, and specifications
- Undertake design project from concept to completion
- Research and decide on materials and products sourcing
- Support the design team in the creation of presentation materials, finish and material selection and specifications, and furniture selection and specification
- Construction documents including CAD drafting, Photoshop and/or 3D schematic renderings, and FF&E specification writing
- Coordinate with vendors for sample orders, quotes, and specifications
- Product research and inspired sourcing of furnishings, lighting, accessories, fixtures, finishes, and material options
- Maintaining design library
Requirements:
- Candidate must be currently enrolled in an Interior Design program or working towards a degree in a related field
- AutoCAD
- Adobe Suite, namely Photoshop
- 3D software (eg. Sketchup) preferred
- Microsoft Office
Additional Details:
- Learning outcomes: ff&e specifications, schematic design processes, design development processes, construction documents, construction management, etc.
- Duration of the internship: flexible, prefer at least one semester
- Hours per week the student is expected to work: minimum 8 hours a week; maximum 20 hours a week
- Lead designers will mentor the intern
