Vehicle Controls Engineer Energy Storage

Vehicle Controls Engineer – Energy Storage Bollinger Motors is looking for a full-time Vehicle Controls Engineer. This position will work closely with the electrical and mechanical design teams in the design, integration, and testing of the vehicle control system for the Bollinger B1 and B2 vehicles. Specific focus will be on topic related to the energy storage system. Job duties to be performed in the Detroit, MI area. Compensation based on experience and abilities.  
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities 
• Lead the vehicle controls software development team on topics related to energy storage • Design and build the vehicle controls software, focused primarily on energy storage • Design and test vehicle controls algorithms, focused primarily on energy storage • Design, build, and test battery management system verification solutions • Assist in the development and execution of a battery management system controls test plan • Assist in the selection of battery management system controls components • Define, implement, and validate all relevant on-vehicle communication interfaces • Implement and validate communication interfaces between battery and off-vehicle equipment • Troubleshoot vehicle controls issues throughout the duration of testing and production • Support the growth of the controls team by assisting in selection of talent, tools, and processes 
 
Education, Skills and Knowledge 
• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field • Desire and ability to work in fast-paced, self-directed work environment • 5+ years of experience working on battery management system control software • Experience with in-vehicle software development and testing • Experience with model-based software design in Simulink • Experience with vehicle dynamics modeling and simulation • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, SPI, etc…) • Knowledge of and experience with version control software (GIT, SVN, etc…) • Student team and project experience a plus • Experience with high voltage systems a plus • Experience with production automotive software development and testing a plus
