Support our Communications & Board Services Bureau using your communications expertise. This position plays a critical role in developing and executing strategic communications related to major District initiatives. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with staff at all levels providing public relations practices that help reduce the risk of negative or misunderstood information about the District. The successful candidate will be a strong writer and communicator who is responsible for writing and implementing strategic communications plans, which include conducting research, coordinating public meetings and developing tactics within the plans. You’ll have the chance to work with a wide range of teams in this promising position, each of which plays a vital role in our efforts to preserve our most valuable natural resources.

Compensation:
Senior Communications Coordinator: $45,801.60 - $55,572.61, pay grade 112
Lead Communications Coordinator: $49,462.40 - $60,000.00, pay grade 113
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with District leadership to identify future initiatives and potential issues that require strategic planning
- Provide strategic counsel about best management practices in public relations
- Write and implement strategic communications plans
- Coordinate public meetings
- Write various materials such as articles, FAQs, talking points, webpage text, brochure text, etc.
- Assist with PowerPoints, posters, handouts and other meeting materials
- Conduct research for District initiatives and projects and use surveys or other tools to develop and evaluate objectives
- Coordinate email marketing associated with communications plans and efforts
- Oversee District sponsorship of decision-maker workshops throughout the District
Required Credentials for Communications Coordinator Opportunity
Senior Communications Coordinator
- Bachelors degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university
- Five (5) years related work experience
- Ability to perform as an advanced public relations professional
- Strong writer and communicator
- Equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted
- Valid driver's license
Lead Communications Coordinator
- Bachelors degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university
- Seven (7) years related work experience
- Ability to perform as an advanced public relations professional
- Strong writer and communicator
- Equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Credentials for Communications Coordinator Opportunity (both levels)
- Bachelors degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field
- Experience writing and/or implementing strategic communications plans and tactics
- Experience conducting research and writing surveys using SurveyMonkey or similar online tools
- Accreditation in Public Relations (APR)
