Program Assistant, International Dissertation Research Fellowship Program

DESCRIPTION
The Social Science Research Council (SSRC) is an independent, international, nonprofit organization devoted to the advancement of interdisciplinary research in the social sciences through a wide variety of workshops and conferences, fellowships and grants, summer training institutes, scholarly exchanges, research, and publications. The SSRC seeks a Program Assistant to work with the International Dissertation Research Fellowship (IDRF) Program. This is an entry-level position supporting the SSRC’s largest fellowship program. Funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the IDRF program is designed to support doctoral candidates in the humanities and social sciences seeking to conduct dissertation research in all regions of the world. With seventy fellowships awarded annually, the IDRF is one of the largest dissertation fellowship programs in the United States.

RESPONSIBILITIES
· Support IDRF staff with overall administration of the program.
· Answer telephone and email inquiries from prospective fellowship applicants.
· Serve as primary contact for an assigned cohort of IDRF fellows, which involves regular correspondence, document collection, and providing feedback on written research reports.
· Manage database and paper files for applicants, fellows, and contacts.
· Maintain the program’s social media accounts and online presence.
· Engage with fellowship alumni community to spotlight accomplishments and milestones.
· Provide administrative support for the application review process.
· Organize and provide logistical support for conferences, workshops, and meetings both on- and off-site.
· Process payment requests for fellows, vendors, and program partners.
· Assist in planning program outreach and maintaining a digital community for fellows.
· Other duties and additional responsibilities and projects as directed, depending upon interest and capacity.

QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, humanities, or related field required.
· Proficiency in MS Office (including Word, Excel, and Outlook) and internet applications.
· Experience or familiarity with web content management and/or database management preferred.
· Ability to multitask and prioritize daily activities to meet competing deadlines.
· Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
· Strong writing and oral communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

TERMS, SALARY AND BENEFITS
