Hiring Immediately: Census Outreach Canvassers $20 per hour
BrownMillerGroup is hiring Canvassers to support New York City’s Get Out the Count campaign to increase self-response to the 2020 Census.
Job Description
Canvassers will work individually as part of teams to talk with residents of designated neighborhoods to encourage self-response to the 2020 U.S. Census to ensure that everyone is counted.
Successful applicants will be engaging, outgoing, and creative individuals who are goal-oriented, self-motivated, and able to think on their feet.
Canvassers will work six hour shifts up to 40 hours per week. Shifts available seven days a week, at scheduled times throughout the day.
Canvassers will:
- Go door-to-door and to community events
- Work individually to achieve personal goals as part of a team
- Communicate the purpose and benefits of the Census
- Answer questions regarding the completion of the Census
- Meet reporting requirements and accountability guidelines
Qualifications
The following experience and qualifications will lead to success:
- Previous paid canvass experience
- Telemarketing or retail marketing experience
- Social service or organizing experience
- Speakers of a second language, especially Spanish, Yiddish, Russian, Punjabi, Bangla, and Kreyol, are strongly encouraged to apply.
Requirements
Canvassers must be able to:
- Utilize provided equipment including Tablets or similar devices
- Perform data entry and reporting functions
- Work independently as part of a team
- Work outdoors, on foot, walking, for up to six hours a day, a minimum of 4 shifts per week
