Mechanical Design Engineer

Support the Commercial, Manufacturing and Field Service teams with designs for fixed and mobile equipment for use in the civil explosives industry. Follow designs through the entire lifecycle - working with the Commercial team on concept designs and specifications, Manufacturing on sustaining activities, and Field Service to provide end-user support.

REQUIREMENTS:
•BS Mechanical Engineering
•Familiar with sheet metal fabrication and design of weldments applying DFM principles
•Ability to translate engineering concepts into part/assembly designs
•Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot under pressure, both on the shop floor and in the field
•Competent in a current CAD software package (Solid Edge in a Teamcenter PLM environment preferred)
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
•Working knowledge of automation/controls (off-highway equipment concentration preferred)
•Excellent administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills
•Ability to work as an individual contributor with a team-oriented mindset
•Experience using an ERP system to manage BOMs and manufacturing routings (VISUAL ERP preferred)

MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Preparing design calculations, solid models, drafts and BOMs
•Specifying raw materials and components based on equipment requirements
•Developing cost estimates for conceptual designs
•Generating test plans to qualify new designs
•Compiling design review reports and hardware/equipment documentation as necessary
•Traveling to support product development and Field Service needs (domestic/international)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
•Reports to Director of Engineering
