AmeriCorps Gleaning Coordinator

Now Hiring: Full-Time Cache Valley AmeriCorps Gleaning Coordinator
Reduce Food Waste & Feed Community Members in Need
 
This full-time AmeriCorps Gleaning Coordinator will organize volunteers and tree owners and oversee the gleaning of local fruit trees. This fall, they will make sauces, jams, and leather with gleaned fruit. Physical distancing and other safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 will be observed.
 
Start Date: Mid-June
End Date: Late December  
Benefits: $7,408 Living Allowance & $3,047 Education Award (upon completion)
Application Deadline: June 1

Responsibilities:
·     Coordinate with the Cache Community Food Pantry Grow and Gather website
·     Organize community gleaning events, including volunteer recuitment
·     Organize fruit preservation sessions, including volunteer recruitment
·     Oversee data collection for gleaning program
·     Maintain good relations with tree owners and create new relationships
·     Communicate with advisors to ensure project is positively impacting the community 
·     Communicate with student interns about fruit preservation and nutrition projects
·     Frequently travel around Cache Valley 

Qualifications:
·     Self-directed, hard-working, and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
·     Strong organizational skills
·     Professional communication skills
·     Strong interest in community organizing and engagement
·     Knowledge of website management
·     Excellent computer literacy/data entry skills, including Word, Excel, Google Drive, etc.  
·     Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities
·     Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly
·     Willingness to uphold the Cache Community Food Pantry’s and USU food pantry (SNAC) missions
·     Basic knowledge of agriculture/fruit trees
·     Some experience growing produce and/or gardening
·     Current driver’s license
