Climate Vulnerability Assessment Intern

The Office of Resilience and Sustainability at the City of Miami is seeking an intern to assist with the development of data/GIS platform that enables multiple city departments to access and upload data related to climate risk and vulnerability for city owned properties. Tasks will include:
o Analyze data to identify critical city-owned facilities
o Determine vulnerability of these facilities to climate hazards such as sea level rise, wind, storms and flooding
o Establish baseline condition of critical infrastructure and assets
o Determine need and capacity for energy redundancy for city facilities
o Assemble and present analysis and data and recommended next steps
Skills & Qualifications:
o Proficient in the following:
o Excel
o GIS/ ArcGIS
o Knowledge of geodatabases
o Ability to geocode
o Ability to work with large datasets
o Basic understanding of inundation maps, climate hazards such as sea level rise, wind, flooding
Ideally, we are seeking a student to work over the course of the summer for 30 hours per week. Timing is flexible.
