Materials Coordinator I

Provide materials, warehouse and inventory management related services to the Business Unit. Deliver quality customer service by ensuring materials and equipment are available at the appropriate locations as needed by operations. Responsible for ensuring that all company policies and procedures are followed and the appropriate reports, records and documents are maintained. Responsible for full life cycle management of materials purchased by the company.
PAY RANGE:   $20 - $30 per hour (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Materials Manager/Supervisor
LOCATION:   Castle Rock, CO
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Overall day-to-day responsibilities for the unloading, receipt, inspection, check-in, storage, control, issuance and disposal of materials, equipment and parts ordered by the company.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all SOX and related Supply Chain procedures.  
  • Coordinate and expedite the ordering and delivery of materials within or between inventory business units.
  • Responsible for 1-3 warehouse locations 
  • Provide support for delivery notifications and monitoring delivery to schedule and PO requirements and verify that the material invoiced has been received on-site and the invoice payment can be made.
  • Represent the materials management function at operational and planning meetings as required.
  • Review reports, work orders, or materials lists to determine materials requirements or material priorities to support operations.
  • Schedule warehouse safety audits, ensure items are corrected in a timely fashion and document according to policy. 
  • Ensure OSHA and company safety policies, procedures, and work practices are being followed in all areas.
  • Maintain files and perform filing related to Supply Chain records and reports.
  • Ensure applicable cyber terms and security are enforced throughout any materials processes.
  • Take ownership for planning and implementing any projects as assigned.
  • Report problems found with company processes, procedures or policies.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work cooperatively with company and vendor employees.
  • Work assignments at other warehouse locations as directed. 
  • Ability to respond to emergency call outs in a timely fashion (if applicable)
  • Assist with gathering Supply Chain audit information as needed.  
  • Work cooperatively with company and vendor employees.
  • Assist other plant/operations personnel as directed. Represent Black Hills in a professional manner with a “can do” attitude.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required, Associates Degree preferred.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of warehouse experience or equivalent preferred.  
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Materials management procedures including unloading, receipt, check-in, storage, control, and issuance of materials (preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Highly proficient with computer and Microsoft Programs.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to make judgmental decisions with little or no supervision.
  • Possess the ability to prioritize work to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Able to perform mathematical functions.
  • Able to read and understand technical information such as: purchase orders, material lists, equipment specifications, and instructions.
  • Able to make routine public contact with contractors, service personnel and governing agencies.
  • Work is generally not physically demanding, but requires the ability to climb stairs and carry/lift 50 pounds.
  • Able to hear (at some dB limit of loss) in order to receive oral communications and instructions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously (67% or more) required to: stand, walk, balance, bend or stoop, crawl, work at elevated heights, maintain eye and hand coordination, maintain finger and hand dexterity, hear, rotate and extend neck, maintain body posture, reach, talk, and have visual acuity to operate machines and equipment. Employee is frequently (34-66%) required to: access low and high areas with additional equipment, ascend/descend stairs, maintain hand and foot coordination, move hands in repetitive motion, kneel, reach above the shoulder, and sit. The employee may occasionally (less than 33%) be required to: use a respirator, and sit. Employee must be able to operate job related equipment and tools. Must be able to routinely perform this work for an average of 8-10 hours per day and occasional extended hours as necessary. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance. 
Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work environment: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level, and occasionally outdoors in sometimes inclement weather. Worker may be subject to hazards including variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working in places of height, or close quarters. No travel is required for this role.
