Metrology Technician

We are a medical device contract manufacturer that is a part of a multinational EMS company and we’re looking for a Metrology Technician to support our quality inspection group. We would be counting on you to write robust and efficient CMM programs that can pass gage repeatability and reliability studies (GR&R). We are a publicly traded company with lots of strong opportunity for growth.
Basic Background Requirements:
This position will require:
  • Previous CMM programming experience of 2 years required
  • Proficient with CMM programming, Zeiss Calypso preference
  • Strong understanding of GD&T
  • Strong understanding of GDP
  • Strong computer skills
  • Proficient with micrometers, calipers and other measuring devices
  • Strong written and grammar skills
  • Strong reading comprehension skills
  • Good understanding of mathematical concepts
  • Degree is preferred, however, relevant experience may be substituted
  • Mechanical acumen to create fixtures and setups for inspections
Key Performance Objectives
Short Term (0-3 Months):
  • Begin On-The-Job-Training
  • Acquire job related capabilities within IQMS
  • Become familiar with customers and products
  • Become familiar with Starlet and HexagonKeyence and Zeiss CMMs
  • Run pre-existing programs
  • Assist with GR&R
  • Develop, write and test CMM programs 
  • Mid-term (3-6 months):
  • Ability to translate CAD drawings and Quality Control Plans into Hexagon PC-DMIS and Starlet QC5000 programsCalypso.
  • Utilize both vision and touch probing systems
  • Operating and maintaining Coordinate Measuring Machines.
  • Assist with gage repeatability and reliability studies for measurement test methods.
  • Perform inspections of parts or products to determine compliance with established standards.
  • Supports compliance to the Safety and Environmental policies and programs.
  • Aids in setting priorities, participations and focus on Lean Six Sigma initiatives and projects. 
  • Long Term (6 Months +):
  • Complete Yellow Belt training
  • Expand knowledge/training of both Starlet and Hexagon CMMsKeyence and Zeiss CMMs
  • Participate in Lean Six Sigma initiatives and projects
