Special Needs Summer Overnight Camp Counselor


Stepping Stones is an impact organization that has been serving individuals with disabilities in Greater Cincinnati since 1963! Our Summer Overnight Staycation program invites teens and adults for an enriching 5-day retreat in a scenic and highly inclusive atmosphere. To lead and engage participants, we are recruiting Overnight Camp Counselors to be part of our dynamic summer team!

As an Overnight Camp Counselor, you will be responsible for creating a memorable summer experience, promoting inclusion and leading participants in a variety of adaptive activities -- including creative arts, sensory science and summer favorites like fishing and archery.

Gain experience and develop a variety of professional skills on a daily basis, including:
  • Adaptability
  • Assessment of Participant Progress and Program Effectiveness
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Documentation for the State of Ohio
  • Leadership
  • Planning and Facilitation of Program Activities
  • Problem Solving
  • Risk Analysis

Don't have experience working with individuals with disabilities? That's okay! Many staff have a background in social work, special education or therapeutic recreation. For others, this is their first experience working with individuals with disabilities.

We train everyone from all backgrounds on everything they need to know to perform their role well!


  • HOLIDAY BREAK: July 1 - July 9, 2022 off for a long holiday break
  • Summer housing and all of your meals are provided
  • Fridays evenings and Saturday off
  • In-person and online training, including certification in First Aid & CPR

Work Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma or GED
  • Ability to successfully complete all background check requirements
  • Ability to successfully complete all online and in person training
  • Availability to work May 30 - August 6, 2022 (With exception of holiday break)
