Health & Wellness Intern - Summer

Responsibilities:
1. Assist in a review of the attitudes and stigma towards health outcomes literature and the development of evidence based measures to assess attitudes towards health related outcomes.
2. Assist in the creation of online and paper surveys, and data entry and management of completed surveys.
3. Assist in the production of presentations or print materials related to health and wellness as needed
4. Attend important meetings and serve on relevant coalitions while demonstrating professionalism.
5. Engage in additional research activities with faculty mentor, such as collaborate to review relevant knowledge base(s), create literature reviews, collect data, analyze data, and disseminate research.
6. Other duties as assigned.

1. Cultivation of communication skills. Interns will learn to communicate effectively with faculty, volunteers, and community members to determine need and articulate what role they are able and willing to play to help meet those needs. 
2. Develop research skills. Work with faculty mentorship to understand, and gain experience with, the research process.
3. Increase comfort with adaptability. When working with the community it can be hard to predict or be comfortably prepared for all situations. Interns will learn to be adaptable to the variability that comes with community work, and will develop skills to thrive in these situations.
4. Strengthening of teamwork skills. Interns will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty, community members, and/or volunteers on projects, and will learn to work effectively across spaces to accomplish a collaborative end goal.

Minimum Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail
Basic Computer skills (Microsoft Applications, Google Drive, Gmail)
Outstanding verbal and written communications skills
Ability to lead group planning, discussions, and public presentations 
Understand public health initiatives, regulations, trends and emerging issues
Excellent organizational skills; the ability to set, track, and accomplish realistic goals within a strict timeline, gather required data for reporting client outcomes 
Punctual; attend all required programs, meetings, and events

Education 
Currently a bachelor's degree student in Public Health, Health Education and Promotion, Psychology, Social Work or a related field

Additional Requirements
Clear federal and state background check
Valid Driver's License, automobile liability insurance and reliable transportation
Flexible schedule: some weekend and evening work is required

Preferred Qualifications:
Some background and skill in data use and/or collection
Introductory statistics course(s) taken
