Immigration Specialist- Job ID:2123 (3-Month Term)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Quickly learn established internal immigration processing procedures.
• Following established internal procedures, will primarily prepare and submit nonimmigrant petitions for H-1B visa category.
• Following established internal procedures, prepare DS-2019 for J-1 visa category.
• Communicate daily with foreign national employees regarding their visa status, foreign travel and request for documents.
• Provide front line intake services to foreign national employees with questions on U.S. visa application processes, maintenance of immigration status and foreign travel.
• Daily office coverage from 8:30 am to 5pm.
• Must have ability to effectively manage a high volume case load, prioritize and multi-task while working with consultation and collaboration within a team-based approach.
•Maintain immigration files as required by regulations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or in a business field with coursework, or training, specifically related to the position requirements may offset qualifying experience on a basis of 2:1 (experience:college) years.
• One to three years of experience in U.S. immigration regulations; preparation and filing of nonimmigrant petitions for H-1B and J-1 visa categories.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate immigration regulations to employees.
•Ability to collaborate with team, and as necessary, work independently and exercise a high degree of discretion and judgment.
•Customer service oriented, including professional interaction with scientific staff, managers and administrative employees.
•Strong work planning, time‐management, organization, and prioritization skills are essential to handle competing priorities.
• Knowledgeable in MS Word (proofreading, editing word documents), Excel, Outlook, Adobe (edit pdf files, creating editable forms).
