Willamette Events Board Publicity: Graphic Design or Social Media (2020-2021)

Publicity: Brand & Social Media Management  
 
Responsibilities
The brand management position is responsible for increasing the brand awareness of WEB on campus, garnering feedback and suggestions from the student body and WEB event attendees. This includes:
  • Co-planning  Bearcat Fridays (selecting and facilitating purchases of prizes to increase brand awareness and general publicity for WEB and WEB events).
  • Executing audience analysis on students through survey and a variety of other methods, increase branding at WEB events.
  • Manage and promote WEB Texting service.
  • Assisting other chairs with aspects of publicity and advertising through social media.
  • This includes managing Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,
  • Create a social media calendar (based on WEB and WU schedules) for each semester.

Publicity: Graphic Design  
 
Responsibilities
 
The graphic design management chair is responsible for assisting other chairs with aspects of publicity and advertising through non-media channels. This includes:
  • Co-planning  Bearcat Fridays (selecting and facilitating purchases of prizes to increase brand awareness and general publicity for WEB and WEB events).
  • Poster design/graphics (with availability to Canva or other design software) 
  • Manage the Art Wall and Art Wall schedule
  • Create unconventional and creative publicity (i.e. a giant black tie for Black Tie, paper horses on spokes in the grass for Carousel Night, etc.);
  • Create flyers, business cards, other small handouts to give to students, and other creative publicity.
  • Add all WEB events to the University Calendar
In addition to the duties listed above, the WEB Publicity team supports Willamette Events Board events by volunteering to staff all WEB events.
 
Qualifications (both positions):
1. Demonstrated experience with social media marketing and/or graphic design.
2. The ability and time to complete online training classes for professional development.
3. Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written).
4. Must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 during employment and not be on academic probation.
 

Time Commitments Include:
  • Attend weekly board meetings (Mondays at 7 pm)
  • Hold regular office hours (2 hours/week) in the Office of Student Activities
  • Work a total of 5-6 hours a week including office hours, events, and weekly Monday meetings 
  • Work and attend the following transition events for incoming and outgoing WEB members:
  • StarJam - May 2, 2020 - 10 am - 8 pm (shifts available)
  • Midnight Breakfast - May 6, 2020 7-11:45 pm
  • Attend 1 training each semester (required) Fall mandatory training is 9/11/20 from 4-9 pm. Spring 2021 training is TBA
  • Support WEB events by saving the dates and being available to work the following dates/times:
  • Midnight Breakfast - December 13, 2020 7-11:45 pm
  • Family Weekend Trivia Night - October 2, 2020 6-10 pm
  • Family Weekend Comedy Night - October 3, 2020 8-11:30 pm
  • Midnight Breakfast - May TBA
  • A Black Tie Affair - March 5, 2021 4:45 - 11:55 pm
  • StarJam 2021 - TBA
  • Attend the NACA West regional conference: November 18-21 in Spokane, WA. Transportation, registration, and meals provided. (Optional opportunity).

Compensation: Leadership Award of $650/semester
Compensation will through a Leadership Award. A Leadership Awards is a scholarship that is disbursed into student accounts each semester through Financial Aid. Funds can be left in a student's account to apply towards tuition and fees or can be withdrawn from the account in the form of a reimbursement (through Student Accounts).

Final details for compensation will be clarified during the interview process.
