Public Relations Internship

Are you looking for a real internship? One where you are part of a team doing meaningful work for real clients? Walker Sands has the internship program for you!

Walker Sands Communications is looking for an energetic, detail-oriented person to serve as a part or full-time, paid intern for 12-weeks at its Chicago office.  Length may vary depending on student schedules.

You should have superb writing skills and an interest in conducting web research. You must have an obsession with grammar and the ability to take mediocre writing and make it stronger. If typos jump off the page at you, it is a good sign.

We would like you to have a strong interest in the media, trends, and what constitutes a good story. If you are a news addict and a journalist wannabe, you'll do well here.

We are strongly involved in the Chicago tech world and start-up community. Look at our areas of focus on our website and see if the work we do interests you.

This is one of the best PR internships in Chicago. At the end of the internship program, you will have had in-depth exposure to what it's like to work in the PR industry.

Experience Required for Chicago PR Internships:

  • Completing (or have recently completed) coursework in journalism, marketing communications or business.

  • Junior or senior, or graduate student, but others will be considered based on level of experience.

  • Previous PR, marketing or journalism work experience required.

  • Superb writing skills.

  • Must be able to think on your feet and change gears quickly.


Responsibilities for Chicago PR Interns:

  • Our Chicago PR intern will be responsible for developing media lists, conceptualizing pitches, writing press releases and preparing contributed articles.

  • As part of our Public Relations Internship Program, you will work on a small team for clients that specialize in the small business and technology sectors.
