The University of South Carolina Alumni Association is seeking a lead summer intern who wants to gain internship experience in management, marketing, and sales. The candidate selected for this internship will receive real world training on how to manage a sales and marketing team as we attempt to recruit Student Alumni Association (SAA) members during summer orientation.
Job Details

- Prior management experience preferred.
- 20-25 Hours Per Week
- 12 Week Internship
- $12.50 an Hour
- 10 Hours of Paid Time Off
- Free Parking at the UofSC Alumni Center garage (during the internship)
Duties and Expectations
- Lead the team that is promoting and selling Student Alumni Association memberships at summer orientation events for freshman and transfer students.
- Manage a team of three interns at two weekly evening shifts to represent the Alumni Association at a reception for parents.
- Work with the team of interns on scheduling, training, goal setting, and time keeping.
- Attend regular meetings with Alumni Association staff to track organizational goals and objectives.
- Oversee the sales process including following up with students and parents about SAA membership over texting, phone, and email.
- Manage the set-up and break-down events and ensure that membership packages are ready for sales.
- Oversee the intern’s regular office hours at the UofSC Alumni Center and ensure that administrative tasks are completed on time.
- Track sales and recruiting goals using the Alumni Association's CRM tool.
Mandatory Dates and Timeline
- Applications are due Sunday, February 2, 2020 at 11:59 PM.
- Interviews will be conducted in February.
- Decisions will be made by March 2, 2020.
- First day of the internship will be Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
- Management training will take place during the first week.
- The internship will conclude on Friday, August 14, 2020.
