DevOps Engineer

Our Digital Services team develops modern apps for patients and healthcare providers, detects fraud, waste and abuse, and implements policies that help improve healthcare quality, expand coverage, and lower the cost curve. Our Telecommunication engineering team helps the DoD implement spectrum (Radio Frequency) management on both national and international stages.  
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support development and system operational support teams of AWS systems at the application, access, database, and monitoring level:
1.       Designing schema, access patterns, and locking strategies
2.       Modifying the database structure
3.       Proactive and reactive performance tuning
4.       Archiving data
5.       Generating ad hoc reports by querying the database
6.       Maintaining system security
7.       Controlling user access to the database
8.       Parameter configuration and tuning
9.       Job scheduling
1.   Alerting and Troubleshooting
 
·       Master a multitude of open source platforms and cloud technologies (AWS RDS for PostgreSQL,
·       AWS RDS Management Console, AWS CLI, OpenSCAP, Jenkins, GitHub, Splunk, Liquibase, etc.)
·       Effectively collaborate and coordinate with Agile team, reaching across functional silos to
·       achieve objectives
·       Develop and enhance Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery/Deployment and automated
·       infrastructure provisioning DevOps fixtures including build processes, and generating SQL
·       scripts.
·       Perform database documentation as needed.
·       Troubleshoot build failures, environment issues and technical blockers with Agile team
·       members
·       Provide communication to Agile team members to manage expectations and schedule
·       coordination
·       Demonstrate DevOps concepts to customers and team members
·       All other duties as assigned or directed
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
·       Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field
·       2+ years of DevOps Engineering experience
·       3+ years of DBA experience in an AWS environment
·       Understanding of modular Jenkins pipelines
·       Basic understanding of Java development
·       Strong background in NIX operating systems, Shell script, YUM, and adeptness with new
·       scripting languages
·       Proven data management experience and ability
·       Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and operations management
·       AWS Certified DevOps Engineer is a plus
·       Certification or experience with SAFe Agile practices is a plus
·       Experience with Splunk (or similar log aggregator) is a plus
·       U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the United States without sponsorship
 
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
·       Experience with AWS RDS for PostgreSQL
·       Experience with AWS cloud technologies
·       Strong experience with Unix/Linux system administration
·       Experience with cloud DB tools for database schema change management (Liquibase, Hibernate,
·       PostGIS, Open Postgr, Spring Data, etc).
·       Experience working with CI/CD process and tools, testing frameworks and practices (preferably
·       GitHub, Jenkins, etc.)
·       Experience working on a team using Scrum or other Agile project framework
·       Experience with Agile management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Slack
