Intern at St Augustine Parish, Philadelphia
St. Augustine Parish in Philadelphia was founded in 1796. It is the first place the Augustinians lived and served in the United States. It is here that Villanova University began before moving to its present location on Lancaster Avenue.
Responsibilities of an intern:
1) Making connections with local hotels/motels so that information about the parish can be available to their guests.
2) Making connections with local existing condominiums/apartment houses so that information about the parish can be available to their residents
3) Making connections with future condominiums/apartment houses which are presently in the process of being built so that information about the parish can be available to their new residents when they move in.
4) Networking with various departments at Villanova and the parish, for example:
A) Theology on Tap
B) Guest speakers, e.g. Barbara Wall in Social Justice
C) Involvement with Senior Retreats telling them about St. Augustine Parish
D) Involvement with Villanova's Sunday evening Masses informing seniors particularly about the parish
E) Involvement with Augustinian Cultural Seminar
F) Involvement with "Hop on the bus"
G) Villanova students periodically participating in our Sunday 7:00 pm Mass and a social after Mass
H) Involvement with the Catholic Student Association
I) Having Villanova art students view our frescos which are the oldest in any religious building in the country
This could be a position for someone who would receive credit.
This could be a non paying position for someone who is not seeking credit.
