Medical Assistant; Ambulatory Treatment Room; Boston

The Medical Assistant is responsible for participating in outpatient care provided in the Ambulatory Treatment Room (ATR), where patients undergo surgical procedures under local anesthesia.  He/she is the primary circulator in the ATR and coordinates all activities related to care and support while the patient is in the ATR.  He/she is specifically responsible for preparing the patient for surgical procedures, assisting the physician and surgical technician during the conduct of the procedure, comforting the patient during the procedure, properly creating documentation during the procedure, communicating post-operative instructions to the patient, maintenance of stock supplies, correct operation of equipment, monitoring the ATR schedule and communicating with the schedulers, and daily upkeep and appearance of the procedure room. In addition, the Medical Assistant will work in the Wound Care Center, assisting the other clinical staff (2 Physician Assistants, a nurse and surgeons) with direct, hands-on patient care (vital signs, wound dressings, patient education). This is a perfect job for someone who is interested in getting patient care experience prior to applying to PA, NP, nursing or medical school.
