The Environment Sustainability Intern is responsible to support the EHS department in ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations, following Catalent Pharma Solutions’ guidelines to guarantee the safety of all employees, visitors and contractors in the facility. The Environment Sustainability Intern supports the Environment, Health and Safety Department to ensure the site operates at the highest level of efficiency, integrity and enthusiasm while striving to maintain corporate responsibility and the safest working environment possible.

The Role

  • Manage facility waste streams to ensure compliance with contracts and regulations
  • Work with internal departments to regulate and ensure appropriate waste disposal
  • Move waste from satellite collection areas within the facility to final disposal location
  • Prepare waste shipments of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, as well as other solid waste and recyclables
  • Operate cardboard baler and move completed bales to storage location
  • Operate drum crusher and move available drums to storage/disposal location
  • Monitor waste storage areas and contact vendors for pick up as necessary
  • Track invoicing, bills of lading and quantities for all waste
  • Coordinate with facilities and engineering staff to increase metals recycling
  • Monitor waste in hazardous waste room and ensure compliance with hazardous waste regulations
  • Author/compile monthly and annual summaries and metrics relating to sustainability initiatives
  • Effective communication with EHS Engineer and Director regarding status of daily work
  • Other duties as required in support of Catalent Pharma Solutions high performance

The Candidate

  • Currently enrolled in a College or University
  • Must be an ungraduated student in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sustainability or Environmental, Health and Safety
  • Eligible to legally work in the United States
  • Work full time (40 hours/week) for a 10-12 week period
