Summer 2020 - IT Internship

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Our Summer Internship 2020 – IT Internship, based in Minneapolis, MN, is a great opportunity to gain valuable work experience to complement your education. Our program includes learning sessions, social outings, volunteer work, career development, networking opportunities, exposure to executive leadership and more.
 
In selecting interns, we look for the following:
• Undergraduate students at an accredited four-year college or university or recent graduate of a four-year degree with a strong academic record (minimum GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale).
• Working knowledge of IT applications, software and systems
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment
• Strong technical, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the program (June to August)
 
 
POSSIBLE INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY AREAS
Business Analyst
Analyze clients’ existing systems and business models, document business process flows, map and document interfaces between legacy and new applications, translate business needs into requirements, and identify options for potential solutions while assessing both technical and business suitability. Experience or interest in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), MS Office suite and Visio.
 
Data and Reporting Analyst
Experience or interest in relational databases, business intelligence tools, SQL Server Integration
Services (SSIS), data analysis, data governance, data mapping, and data dictionary work.
 
Knowledge Management & Data/Reporting Analyst
The intern will review the current Knowledge Base articles and make necessary updates as well as complete trend analysis of service desk tickets. Strong technical writing skills and proficiency in Excel required.
 
Portfolio Reporting Analyst
Experience or interest in Project Portfolio Coordination and Reporting within a global Project Delivery Office. Requires advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros, functions) and data analysis. Preferred knowledge of reporting best practices, business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau), and SharePoint administration experience.
 
Production Support
Experience or interest in problem solving and a creative analytical thinker who is self-driven and likes working in a fast-paced environment. Preferred technical knowledge and experience with RedHat/Linux platform technologies. Ideal candidate would have a basic understanding of SQL and HTML, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong experience in Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint required.
 
Project Coordinator
The intern will be responsible for successful project management framework and delivery. This includes coordination, follow-up, documentation, auditing, communication plans, governance, data entry, and processing forms. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
 
Project Delivery Office
Work with Business/Technology Owners to ensure projects achieve the business result that enables value creation. Working knowledge of PMF, SDLC, and Agile delivery methodologies is preferred.
 
Quality Assurance
Experience or interest in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), documenting and reporting defects, analyzing functional requirements, designing manual test cases, functional testing, ad hoc testing, regression testing, creating and running SQL database queries. Ideal candidate will have some experience with coding in Java and .NET.
 
Software Automated & Performance Testing
Experience or interest in developing automated and performance tests. Preferred skills include knowledge of internet technologies, Ajax, HTTP/HTTPs/HTML/XML, Java script, CSS, XSL/XSLT, and/or XPATH. You will be using automation tools such as HP QTP/UFT LoadRunner, Performance Center and/or Selenium. Experience with environment configurations, defect tracking, build or release management and debugging tools are a plus.
 
Software Development
Experience or interest in developing UI components or building APIs. Preferred skills include knowledge of application technologies such as: WPF, MVVM, Windows Forms, SQL Server, DB2, Spring Boot, Vue.JS, React, Redux, C#, Java, VB.NET, ASP.NET, IIS, XAML, etc. You will be participating in working on an in-house application, either testing, providing UI feedback, and developing user interface components or developing an API.
 
Technical Service Desk
This intern will help the business continue to function without hiccups by figuring out issues with hardware or application. The hardware can be a PC, Laptop or Printer. The application can be a suite of Microsoft applications, applications built by RBC or vendor built applications. Knowledge of System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and scripting would be beneficial, but it is not required. You need a basic understanding of PC applications and how to troubleshoot issues.
 
Technical Systems Analyst (TSA)
Support Back Office Application team, primarily the vendor FIS Protegent Surveillance application.
Experience or interest in relational databases and queries (DB2), data analysis, business application testing, business process analysis, and problem research (root cause analysis and solution design).
 
UI Experience (UX)
Solid knowledge of user interface design process and methodology. Preferred fields of study include interaction design, visual design, human-computer interaction, human factors, or computer science.
