Business Intern

This role is a 12-week internship starting in May of 2020. 

Kinexus is in search of highly motivated college students with a strong potential who are eager to make an impact at Kinexus and in the community. Our interns will be assigned impactful and challenging projects where their leadership capacity will be stretched to its fullest. Kinexus interns should be analytical, goal oriented, and aspire to be the positive driver of change in Southwest Michigan. 

The Team: 

The Business Intern will work with the Business Team. The Kinexus Business Solutions Team is focused on helping businesses in Southwest Michigan improve their viability through connectivity to resources and talent. The Business Team uses data to enlighten Kinexus and its partners to improve outcomes through the power of numbers and serve as champions for the private sector.

Project Examples: 

  • Working under business account managers to help the business team find funding through the state for new hires and training 
  • Conducting outreach and meeting with companies to build relationships. 
  • Creating tools to assist with tracking company data 
  • Collaborating with the talent team to connect people looking for jobs with companies looking to hire 
  • Assisting with data entry and outreach emails 
  • Coming up with new and better ways to connect employers to employees. 
 
Demand will change depending upon business needs, but rest assured the projects you are assigned will put your creativity and project management to the test while making a significant impact at Kinexus. All interns at Kinexus will have the opportunity to participate in a group intern project to improve and make a lasting impact at Kinexus. 
 
Essential Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree with sophomore, junior, or senior status and a major in business, communications, or a related field  
  • Proven leadership experience through the involvement of on campus organizations or other experiences 
  • Efficient oral and written communication skills 
  • A self-starter with high energy and a willingness to learn 
  • Well organized with the ability to handle multiple projects at once 
  • Strategic thinking and analytical problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to be adaptable and provide support wherever it may be needed 
  • Willingness to travel to different locations for company meetings
