Programmer Analyst

St. Charles Community College is located just west of St. Louis, nestled in the heart of growing St. Charles County. Established in 1986, SCC is a public, comprehensive two-year community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences and career-technical fields. SCC also provides workforce training and community-based personal and professional development as well as cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities.

We are seeking a full-time Programmer Analyst who will provide the design, development and maintenance of programs in support of the College's student information system (e.g. Colleague) and CMS web presence (dotCMS) as well as in-house applications developed to meet end user needs.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Analyze, design, develop, test and implement new applications, as assigned, using object oriented programming languages and development tools.
  • Work independently to research and correct errors in existing application programs and/or perform approved modifications to existing application programs.
  • Understand the overall structure of the administrative software application and how its parts interact and relate.
  • Assist in the maintenance of current administrative software application documentation. Develop and maintain end user operational documentation and programming documentation.
  • Assist, as needed, in installing new revisions of system or application software, in recovery procedures after a system failure and in maintaining the accuracy of files and file structures.
  • Assist in the research of new developments and improvements of system and/or application software, and recommend changes or additions as appropriate.
  • Assist, as required, in the delivery of user training and in the support of the campus network.
  • Act as lead on assigned IT projects.
  • Complies with IT procedure for reporting child pornography on SCC equipment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. Associate's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related discipline required.
  • Minimum of three years, full-time experience in systems analysis and design, and programming in an interactive environment, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Experience with computer programming and application development using .NET, REST, JavaScript, SQL and HTML
  • Experience with Unibasic and Envision strongly preferred.
  • Skills in logical program resolution and analyzing user problems as they relate to an application software package.
  • Experience with source control processes and practices.
  • Some knowledge of networks is desired and a familiarity with Microsoft productivity software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and under strict timelines.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
