Co-Op Toyota Production System (TPS) - RCH-2279

3 or 6 month block / January - (Flexible) / 40 hours per week / $15.38 - $21.23
*Housing allowance available to eligible candidates

Your Role:
As a Co-Op in the TPS group, you will be treated as a self-sufficient engineer with an assigned mentor to support and guide you as needed depending on your level of experience and knowledge on the assigned project. You will be responsible for capturing, documenting, and communicating current state activities. You will then complete the appropriate analysis to define the problems, recommend, and implement countermeasures to impact manufacturing Key Performance Indicators (KPI's). The work done as part of this co-op will allow you to dive into the essentials of TPS and Lean in a manufacturing environment while providing you real world experience in every step of the process.
 
Your Responsibilities:
  • Learn and apply the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) model of continuous improvement
  • Study and apply TPS and Lean principles in an assigned manufacturing area (example: TCOM Mast Welding area)
  • Observe and record current state activities in an assigned area through utilization of tools such as cycle time studies and M&I flow charts
  • Prepare plans for the future-state though the use of current-state knowledge and various tools such as Toyota's standard report (A3 report)

Your Key Skills & Qualifications:
Required:
  • Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Systems and Industrial Engineering or similar
  • Strong desire to learn and work on the manufacturing production floor
  • Ability to interface with a diverse group (i.e. mfg. operations management, mfg. engineering, production operators)
  • Analytical with a strong orientation towards problem solving
  • Computer Skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) / MS Visio / Minitab (preferred)
 
Preferred:
  • Strong communication and presentation skills - ability to convey and explain technical data & information to others

Your Department:
TPS Administration is a key manufacturing support department that is responsible to teach, coach, and train using TPS / Lean principles, tools, and concepts in a cross-functional team environment. The team is responsible for driving and supporting standardized work, 5S, kaizen activity, quality circles, and Jishuken activity in manufacturing.
