2019-2020 Work Study Student Center Marketing & Outreach Assistant

The Student Center is looking for a work study marketing student assistant to join our marketing team. This position is Federal Work Study funded and reports to the Digital Marketing Specialist to assist with coordinating and executing the Student Center’s social media and marketing strategy.
 
 
The student assistant will be asked to participate in short and long-term social media and marketing campaigns. This person is also expected to be a self-starter and tackle projects on his or her own. Be sure to come with ideas.

In coordination with Georgia State University’s College to Career program, which is designed to improve students’ career readiness, employment with the Student Center is designed to help students acquire, develop, and sharpen competency in the areas identified by employers as the most sought-after skills. They include:

Learning Outcomes and Responsibilities

Critical Thinking
•      Brainstorm marketing ideas and plans to reach students on a weekly basis. Assist with determining the best route to execute each plan.
Oral/Written Communication
•      Gather information from our subject matter experts and key leaders to write and create compelling and engaging content for websites (Spotlight, PAC, SGA, Student Center)
•      Create persuasive captions for social media channels
Teamwork/Collaboration
•      Assist in all marketing and promotion of the Student Center via tabling, meetings and seeking out collaborations across campuses
•      Attend required student employee staff development meetings and programs
•      Other projects and duties as assigned

Digital Technology
•      Schedule and draft social media posts for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using Hootsuite
•      Assist with development of staff newsletter using design tools
•      Take photos for social media purposes
•      Other projects and duties as assigned
 
Leadership
•      Adhere to Georgia State University brand guidelines and post to social media responsibly
Professionalism/Work Ethic
•      Must come prepared, dressed in uniform and ready to work
Career Management
•      Works with Digital Marketing Specialist to map out career interests
Global/Intercultural Fluency
•      Understand the importance of connecting audiences online using social media imagery and captions
Minimum Skills and Qualifications
•      Excellent communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, writing, editing and organizational skills
•      Ability to organize and prioritize work while juggling several projects at once
•      Ability to establish effective relationships with outside organizations and contacts for the purpose of collaborating across campuses

Preferred Skills and Qualifications
•      Familiarity with Trello, Hootsuite and all social media platforms preferred
•      Adobe Creative Suite and graphic design experience a plus
