Compensation Analyst

Chemonics International seeks a Compensation Analyst to join the Human Resources Division. The Compensation Analyst plays a tactical role in administering Chemonics’ compensation programs. This includes, but is not limited to, determining job classification, market pricing, pay studies, policy, wage & hour law interpretations, and developing compensation education and training. This position will consult with internal business partners regarding resource management, job description review and alignment, and compensation matters. The Analyst will be an integral part of future compensation projects and initiatives. The analyst is responsive to Chemonics’ goals and competitive practices and ensures that compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with Chemonics’ policies and government regulations. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Provide advice to the Recruiting Department, HR Business Partners, managers, and business leaders on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation, and job evaluation.
  • Review requests for new or revised job descriptions to determine appropriate job grade- leveling
  • Provide salary recommendations that keep in line with the external market yet remain equitable with within the company.
  • Work with HR business partners and stakeholders to standardize and streamline existing compensation and job description practice and monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines, and procedures in assigned division/regions.
  • Provide compensation analysis and written recommendations used in reports for internal and external clients, when necessary.
  • Key resource and administrator of spot award, annual and incentive bonus program.
  • Develop reoccurring and ad-hoc compensation reports / analytics.
  • Keep apprised of federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations and stays informed of new industry trends and best practices in compensation.
  • Develop and document procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Recommend plan revisions as well as new plans that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and Chemonics’ objectives 
  • Work with HRIS staff to ensure that the system meets compensation needs and is updated to reflect changes to salary structures, bonus programs, etc.
  • Engage with external compensation consultants for advice and expertise as necessary
  • Key resource and contributor to annual equity review and analysis
  • Support the completion of regulatory compliance reports such as the EEO-1 report
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or other relevant concentration required. 
  • Three years of experience in the analysis, design, and/or administration of compensation programs. 
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation preferred.
  • Knowledge of compensation and job evaluation theories, applicable wage/hour regulations, and salary survey methodologies.
  • Compensation experience in the international development industry and familiarity with USAID, State Department, and other international donor guidelines preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Possess strong plan design, administration, and implementation experience. 
  • Strong technical/analytical skills to identify and solve problems.
  • Strong organizational skills in order to maintain a high level of productivity, innovation, and priority-setting. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for effectively interfacing with all levels of management and departments within the company. 
  • Ability to work under pressure, meeting time-sensitive deadlines, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
