LAST CHANCE TO APPLY: GrubStreet Creative Writing Center seeks Muse & The Marketplace Conference Intern - (Fall & Spring terms)

IMPORTANT: Applicants MUST apply at

Program Stipends

GrubStreet is now offering stipends to its interns. The amount of each intern's stipend will vary based on the hours they are scheduled for, but will start at a minimum of $1,500.

Our annual three-day literary conference gives aspiring writers a better understanding of the craft of fiction and non-fiction, prepares them for the changing world of publishing and promotion, and creates opportunities for meaningful networking. The conference takes place in the spring, but there's a lot of work to be done to support the planning throughout the year. In the fall term, we'll hire an intern for programmatic support who will stay through the spring term to assist with the conference. Each intern will be exposed to a wide array of tasks, including but not limited to data-gathering, outreach and liaising with potential sponsors, and assisting with web content and upkeep. Read more about the conference here

Like a Renaissance man (or woman, or person), interns will dabble in (and excel at) a variety of tasks at GrubStreet. Duties include:
  • Office administration, such as filing, assisting with mailings, keeping the space organized, doing research on a variety of topics, running to the post office, and whatever else strikes our fancy.
  • Internet research.
  • Grunt work, such as assembling furniture, restocking supplies, helping us tidy up the office, setting up for events and classes.
  • Necessary skills for all interns: ENTHUSIASM, willingness to work on a variety of projects, ability to work independently and with minimal direction, superb attention to detail, stellar organizational skills, ability to learn new tasks quickly, pride in a job well done, and the ability to do all these with cheer and a sense of humor.
