If so, the UM System Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing invites you to apply for our Content Writer position.
 
We’re looking for a creative self-starter who can make connections between ideas and see the bigger picture of the University of Missouri System’s mission. Our team is committed to leading an integrated communications strategy that benefits our University community and Missouri’s citizens. We need a teammate who can work with us to seek out fresh content, build on strategic messaging, and provide research support. As a Content Writer, you’ll keep a finger on the pulse of happenings across the University of Missouri System and state to highlight important systemwide efforts. Your understanding of initiatives and related events will be necessary to develop stories that will engage audiences and provide background research for executive speaking engagements.

Details:
  • 10-15 hours of work per week
  • Candidate must have excellent communication skills, including writing experience and the ability to convey spoken and written communication effectively and concisely.
  • Advanced research skills with a talent for translating complex ideas into relatable, engaging stories that are accessible to a non-academic audience.
  • Strong organization skills and an ability to meet deadlines is key to this position.

Reporting Structure
This job is part of the Joint Office of Strategic Communications, but will focus on communications efforts for the UM System. We look for those stories that forward our efforts as a University system and communicate the unique value we offer to Missouri, our nation and the world through transformative teaching, research, innovation, engagement and inclusion.

Duration
Flexible duration appointment with a minimum requirement of working until the start of the fall semester. If the student and team find the position to be mutually beneficial, it may be extended through or beyond the fall semester. Tentative start date of early to mid-June, 2019
