Engineering/Design Intern

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A. Purpose and Scope: Provide Intern with professional learning environment relative to their field of study. Primary scope of internship is to assist in the development and documentation of standards and specifications for plant processes and operations. through both hand’s on experience on the manufacturing floor as well as engineering best practices.

B. Essential Functions: Meet with Production Manager to gain understanding of Lean production procedures as they relate to manufacturing processes. Work on the floor in various departments to learn of processes and make recommendations on improvement of processes and layout of the manufacturing process.

C. Specific Tasks/Activities for Position

· Effectively work with engineering and operations teams to learn current plant processes.

· Work with operators, operations leaders, and engineering to develop, document, and implement continuous improvement ideas for plant layout and equipment.

· Collect and analyze data to support and implement problem resolution.

· Plant layout improvement ideas

· Process improvement ideas

· Develop tables, graphs

· Do minor engineering calculations and estimates

· Submit weekly reports and updates on assigned areas to keep operations and management teams informed.

· Maintains Current Plant Layout (AutoCAD), and develops Future Plant Layout plans associated with plant projects

· Improves workflow by studying process flow charts; recommending modifications in workflow, work stations and product;

· Reduces waste by studying methods, equipment, and operator techniques; recommending changes; identifying and analyzing waste.
