Starr Summer Intern, Aviation Underwriting
Essential Responsibilities:
The position objective is to prepares/introduce our Intern to analyze and underwrite an “average” account. To achieve this objective, Interns are placed on an accelerated development plan consisting of on-the-job training and self-study.
The Intern will be hired into the Light Aviation profit center in the Scottsdale office where they will learn the full underwriting life-cycle.
Responsibilities:
As part of their daily responsibilities, the Intern will learn and support essential underwriting functions including:
- Policy issuance and endorsement processing
- Premium booking
- File creation, maintenance, and preparation for internal audits
- Binder creation, issuance and processing
- Industry and company research on potential clients
- Frequent correspondence with underwriters and brokers
- Account ratings, loss runs, and general evaluation
- Identification and application of appropriate policy endorsements and exclusions
- Account classification and pricing
- Developing broker and client relationships
- Preparation of various reports as required
- Development and presentation of marketing materials
- Other duties as directed by the department manager
