The BIG EAST Conference is an association of 11 nationally prominent colleges and universities that foster healthy athletic competition, community service, and the pursuit of excellence in academic environments. The athletic programs of BIG EAST institutions provide national-caliber participation opportunities for more than 4,100 student-athletes on over 200 men’s and women’s teams in 22 sports. Job Description
The position will primarily support operations of select Championships at the BIG EAST Conference. Position directly reports to the Executive Associate Commissioner for Sport Administration and Championships. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the planning, implementation, on-site execution, and recap of BIG EAST Conference Championships for select Olympic sports.
- Prepare and update participant manuals and other championship-related documents.
- Participate in host conference calls and staff meetings.
- Assist in the coordination of the delivery of awards, facility and event-specific signage, equipment, etc.
- Assist with the on-site execution of activities at select BIG EAST Conference Championships.
- Identify and organize volunteer opportunities at championships.
- Assist with the development of regular-season conference schedules for select sports.
- Inventory and coordinate distribution of officials and staff apparel.
- Conduct research on national standards in event management, marketing, etc.
- Coordinate post-championship evaluations from student-athletes, coaches, and administrators.
- Assist with the preparation of materials for various conference and coaches’ association meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree; preferred Graduate Degree.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Detail orientated.
- Capacity to efficiently multi-task and prioritize.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and other general office-related programs.
- Previous work or volunteer experience in event management, preferably in collegiate athletics, and/or former student-athlete experience at member institution.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse constituents, including conference staff and personnel at member institutions.
- Familiarity with NCAA compliance rules and regulations.
