Communications & Marketing Intern

The Communications & Marketing Intern will gain valuable experience within a business communications environment while providing support to internal and external communications and marketing activities. This position plays an active role in the execution of the organization’s strategic communication plan. 

This nine-month internship starts in September 2019 with a part-time work schedule of approximately 15-20 hours per week. To be considered, applications must be submitted via Platte River's careers site (www.prpa.org/careers)

Essential Functions:
• Conducts interviews and writes articles for internal newsletter
• Drafts web, social media, news release and presentation content as directed
• Supports stakeholder engagement activities
• Contributes to photography database
• Tracks public calendars and meeting notices for relevant events and issues
• Monitors news content for company-related news articles and manages clipping files
• Assists with department programs and special events
• Performs other duties as assigned in support of the communications and marketing team

Minimum Qualifications:
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, public relations, or related field and enrolled in an accredited college program
• Proven experience in building relationships internally and externally
• Experience working with Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe and other office software applications
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal and collaborative skills that foster productive working relationships
• Proven experience in building relationships and dedicated to teamwork; able to demonstrate a positive approach, enthusiastic, flexible, creative and willing to learn
• Event planning, meeting planning or other event experience
• Self-starter, highly organized, shows initiative
• Professional demeanor and presentation of self
• Ability to organize and manage several priorities simultaneously while working under pressure and deadlines
• Ability to work safely and dedicated to safety
• Current valid driver's license and ability to remain insurable under Platte River's vehicle liability policy

Desired Qualifications:
• Experience volunteering or working in a corporate environment in internal or external communications highly preferred
