POST Training Coordinator 1
Example of Duties
- Develop and implement training programs for basic academy recruit training
- Assess and coordinate curriculum and training needs with other law enforcement and police training personnel
- Review lesson plans and PowerPoint presentations for all academies to ensure they are complete and meet POST requirements and standards.
- Coordinate with instructors and subject matter experts (SME) to identify and develop objectives, design courses to meet standards established by the POST
- Provide assistance and coordinate curriculum and instruction issues with the POST curriculum manager, academy training manager, training coordinators, instructors, and others as directed
- Research and locate new training materials and training aides
- Provide assistance with analyzing and evaluating curriculum in regard to IDAPA regulations and Job Task Analysis (JTA) findings
- Instruct classes in area or areas of expertise
- Coordinate processes for distance learning media updates and assist in conducting Adobe Connect training and meetings
- Maintain and create exams for all the POST academies
- Facilitate curriculum review committee meetings on curriculum development, lesson plans, and related materials
- Conduct pre- and post-instruction surveys for use in improving curriculum for future academies
- Assist the POST Council's Management Assistant with Public Record requests involving POST curriculum
- Maintenance of POST curriculum access for instructors, and POST Council members
- Update and maintain academy student handouts, instructor evaluations, and curriculum database
Minimum Qualifications:
- Good knowledge of training programs used to train law enforcement officers
- Experience:Presenting training to adult groups in structured learning situations including presenting formal police classroom training
- Performing needs assessments, developing training objectives, designing and developing coursework to address those needs and objectives, and evaluating the training
- Researching and analyzing law enforcement training material for applicability in training programs
- Possess a valid driver's license
Specialty:
- Certified law enforcement officer with Patrol, Detention, Correction, Probation & Parole, or equivalent, certification
Desirable Qualification:
- Preference given to applicants who have a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, education, or similar degree from an accredited college or university
