Gear Manager / Grip
Summary:
The EWF Gear Manager / Grip plays a key role in the development and support of Engine Works Film’s gear inventory and day-to-day planning and executing projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Overseeing / running day-to-day planning and logistics of gear management
- Renting/Returning and Purchasing of equipment.
- Planning and anticipating needs for upcoming projects and developing gearlists for each shoot.
- Work with Studio Manager to keep studio organized and assist with various studio errands as needed.
- Maintaining gear/equipment database
- Assist with recruitment of extra crew as needed as it relates to grip / electric
- Supporting the Director and Creative Director in developing / troubleshooting new camera systems for shooting car to car, tracking, aerial, timelapse. etc.
- Supporting the Studio Manager in deepening engagement via social media as it relates to new tech or gear related topics
- Support collection and organization of digital assets and back up to the studio server
- Function as point of contact for information and troubleshooting for all gear / grip related questions
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- One to two years of on-the-job experience
- Extensive knowledge of grip / electric
- Knowledge of LED lighting systems and 4K cameras
- Basic knowledge of Audio Equipment
- Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software
- OSX savvy and DAM proficient
- Data management and archiving experience
- Ability to create, plan, organize and execute initiatives
- Highly organized and attention to detail
- Anticipates needs
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and known as a problem solver
- Able to lift at least 50lbs
- Willingness to learn new and emerging technologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-directed and self-managed, with a strong ability to prioritize workload for maximum productivity.
- Must stay current on industry trends and best practices.
- Flexible schedule with ability to work occasional evenings or weekends

- Sony FS5
- Sony A7R2
- Canon C300 & 5D mark 4
Work Requirements:
This is a part-time position at 1-3 days per week that could move to full-time depending on fit. Occasional evening and weekend hours required. Must be located in Chicagoland area. Must have an active Driver’s License and comfortable operating an automobile.
