Engineering Co-op

Position Summary:
Performs routine engineering-related work requiring the application of educational study & standard techniques & procedures in the manufacturing & design of Swagelok products. Supervised assignments & projects have clear & specified objectives. Work assignments provide students with the opportunity to gain knowledge, understanding & expertise in the areas of:

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
 •            Assembly Engineering (Methods evaluation; Ergonomic analysis; Assembly instruction development.)
•            Product Engineering (Product applications; Product testing; New product development; Existing product analysis; Equipment knowledge.)
•            Manufacturing Engineering (Machine orientation; Process control capability; Fixture design; Optimum process evaluation; Equipment knowledge.)
•            Quality Engineering (Quality assurance & specification issues.)
            
With guidance from Supervisors & Co-op Developers:
•            Learns company policies & procedures and departmental functions, systems & equipment related to product performance & manufacturability.
•            Learns how to properly document product & manufacturing information & data.
•            Learns how to manufacture, inspect, test & evaluate products.
•            Learns how to write, edit & evaluate technical documentation, reports & procedures required to support product development from point of order through manufacturing, assembly, packaging & shipping.
•            Learns how to develop thoughts & ideas into workable improvement opportunities.
•            Learns how to properly analyze, report & take corrective action to drive continuous improvement in the manufacturing & design of products.
•            Learns how to provide technical assistance on various product-related projects.
 Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
 Required:
•            Pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Welding, Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering. (Minimum: Sophomore status and a 3.0 GPA.)
Preferred:
•            Ability to quickly learn & retain technical information & utilize standard operating procedures.
•            Comfortable with handling multiple tasks & portions of small projects simultaneously with  direction from a Supervisor & guidance from a Co-op Developer.
•            Comprehensively adapts & applies technical education to the work environment.
•            Possesses a sense of urgency & drive in providing solutions within a cross- functional work environment. Good oral & written communication skills.
•            Good computer & office software skills.

 Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
 •            Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
•            Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
•            May be required to pass pre-employment and annual Vision Acuity tests
