Student Graphic Designer

Assist the Marketing and Communications department with design and layout for marketing and fundraising collateral. The student graphic designer will help see multiple projects through from conception, implementation and review to production and distribution. This position will involve updating existing materials as well as providing creative input on postcards, brochures, proposals, reports, invitations and digital collateral. The student must be adept at both technical and creative aspects of design, as documented by a portfolio or samples of work. We are interviewing now for a position to start at the beginning of the Spring 2019 semester. 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Proficiency with Adobe suite (InDesign, Illustrator, etc.);
  • Understanding of production process for print materials;
  • Creative, self-motivated and able to work independently;
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow direction;
  • Ability to work quickly and on deadline, often juggling multiple projects at once;
  • Experience with an office environment and Microsoft Office programs;
  • Reliable, respectful and able to commit to a set schedule;
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team;
  • A clear understanding of the need for confidentiality with regard to sensitive information.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to manipulate and edit files in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator and package them for review and print;
  • At least 8-10 hours of availability during the work week (Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm);
  • Current University of Montana student.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Work-study funding;
  • Major in related field, such as media arts, drawing, journalism, or marketing;
  • Aware of current style trends in graphic design;
  • Prior experience in fundraising, communications or marketing;
  • Able to work during summer and winter break periods.
