Owl Edge Summer Experience Fund 2019
If you have secured (or, are in the process of securing) an unpaid or underpaid summer experience, you may be eligible to apply to The 2019 Owl Edge Summer Experience Fund. This fund, created through generous donations, provides a limited number of qualified students with funding up to $5,000 to help with transportation and/or living expenses incurred as a result of participating in a low-paying or unpaid summer experience.
Students will be notified (whether selected or not) of decision by 4/15.
Who is eligible?
1. Students who have an internship or research experience secured or a proposal accepted that meet the requirements stated below. Students must have an offer in hand OR be in the interview stage of a hiring process.
2. Students receiving less than $5,000 in compensation during their summer experience.
3. Rising sophomores, juniors and seniors who are enrolled in both the 2019 spring and fall semesters.
4. Duration of summer experience must equate to 240 hours minimum.
5. Prior recipients, who have received less than $5,000. Total awards, per recipient, will not exceed $5,000 (cumulative).
6. Programs that require students to pay to participate are not eligible.
Required materials (must be uploaded in Handshake; will not accept materials by email):

2. If available, include an offer letter or letter of interest from the hosting organization that includes information about your compensation. The format can be an official offer letter or email correspondence between you and the hiring manager attached to application materials.
3. Budget Worksheet (If you have extenuating circumstances not included in your proposed budget, add a note in the essay). Download the form, complete it and attach to your application materials.

4. Reflective essay (one page): Explain why you want to participate in this internship. Describe how the experience could help shape your career exploration and job search process. Include if you can pursue this opportunity during the academic year.
5. Attach the internship description to the reflective essay.
NOTE: Handshake may only allow you to submit a few documents by designation (i.e. - resume, cover letter, other) so feel free to combine any of them as you see fit. The end goal is that everything is uploaded to your application by the deadline (it doesn't matter how).
