Information Systems Student Assistant / Possible Internship

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:
The IS Student Assistant/Intern will provide a wide variety of technical tasks in support of the IS Department. Some projects may include project management, report development, technical documentation, analyses, business process revitalization, etc. UMF is looking for someone with strong computer skills, technical aptitude, and a passion to learn.
 
JOB DUTIES:
·        Extract data for requested lists/reports
·        Learn project management and agile development methodologies
·        Conduct quality assurance testing for developers
·        Produce technical documentation
·        Participate in data integrity projects
·        Other duties as assigned
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
·        General understanding of Information Systems, including but not limited to: relational databases, hardware, software, programming, and IT security
·        Employ a customer service approach and present information about technical issues both verbally and in writing
·        Ability to review, analyze and recommend solutions for issues
·        Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
·        Reliable student who can work independently when required
·        Must have a clear understanding of the need for confidentiality of sensitive information
 
MINIMUM Qualifications:
·        Knowledge/basic experience with T-SQL or PL/SQL languages
·        Software skills including the use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications
·        Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a similar field
·        Hardworking, positive attitude, and willingness to learn new skills
·        Excellent attention to detail
·        Prefer a student with work-study funding but not required
Prefer a student willing to work during summer and winter break periods
