PAL: Occupational Therapy Internship

We Rock the Spectrum Kid's Gym provides children of all abilities a place to play and grow together. Offering a fun and motivational environment to help children in the areas of strength, movement, sensory processing, communication, positive behavior modification, social interactions, and self-care skills, the gym's unique equipment assists all children in their neurological growth and development.

We Rock the Spectrum in Ballston Spa is owned by an occupational therapist who has been working with children diagnosed with autism. She saw the need in the community for a safe and fun place for children with autism, special needs, and neurotypical development, and their families. Her experience working with children and adults with disabilities drove her to bring We Rock the Spectrum to the Saratoga region.

Spring 2019 internships are available and can be shaped to fulfill an experience a Skidmore student is seeking.

Different projects/exploration areas within an internship can include:
  • Creating and assisting in group workshops
  • Educational opportunities, resources, and outreach concerning special needs communities and their families
  • Business/social media and marketing assistance
  • Nonprofit administration
  • Entrepreneurship

An internship could be tailored to a variety of areas including the participation in meaningful opportunities for pre-health students, students interested in social work, psychology, and/or education, and/or business students. All majors and class years will be considered.

Internships are available for credit only. Students will need transportation to travel to Ballston Spa (approximately 9 miles from Skidmore campus).

We Rock the Spectrum is open seven days a week and scheduling of internship credit hours can be flexible.
