Sheriff's Major - Bureau Head
Hennepin County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) is looking to fill multiple Sheriff's Major positions in each of the four bureaus: Administrative Services, Detention and Court Services, Enforcement Services, and Investigations.
Interviews for final candidates will be held on Monday December 17th and Tuesday December 18th 2018.

Effective January 6, 2019, there will be a general salary adjustment of 2.5% to the minimum and maximum of the range.
Location and hours:
This position requires working a flexible schedule including days, evenings, overnights, on-call, weekends, and holidays.
About the position type:
This position is unclassified, full-time and benefit-earning. Unclassified positions are non-permanent (at will).
In this position, you will:
•Plan, assign, review and evaluate the work of law enforcement and civilian personnel assigned to divisions within the Sheriff's Office.
•Instruct personnel in administrative procedures, basic supervision, as well as law enforcement and non-law enforcement principles.
•Confer and cooperate with other law enforcement officials and agencies.
•Assist in formulating Office annual budget.
•Review and approve employee performance evaluations, time cards, and other documents requiring administrative approval.
•Confer with Sheriff and Chief Deputy Sheriff regularly regarding development and interpretation of office-wide policies, practices and procedures.
•Participate in selecting and evaluating personnel; participate in the disciplinary action of employees violating office rules and regulations.
•Prepare reports and maintain required record of divisional activities.
•Compose correspondence and represent the Sheriff's Office in public relations matters.
•Command the Office in the Sheriff's or Chief Deputy's absence.
Need to have:
•Two years or more of college course work and four years or more of supervisory or administrative law enforcement work experience.
•Be a licensed peace officer or eligible to be licensed by the MN POST Board at the time of appointment.
•Have a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
•Pass a comprehensive medical examination prior to appointment to ascertain candidate's ability to perform essential job functions. The general medical requirements include, but are not limited to: ◦Uncorrected vision of at least 20/100 in each eye.
◦Corrected vision of at least 20/40 in each eye.
◦Meeting normal hearing standards.
◦Must not have cardiovascular problems, including hypertension.
◦Must not have any respiratory impairment.
•Ability to abide by the Sheriff's Office Personal Appearance Standards Policy. You must read the entire policy and be able and willing to meet the requirements.
