Systems Network Analyst (Network Services)

REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES:
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Systems Network Analyst (Network Services) in the Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) division.

General Description
The purpose of this class within the organization is to maintain, troubleshoot, resolve issues, and provide a high level technical support to a division or department.

This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a two (2) year degree from an accredited trade, technical or vocational school, college or university with major coursework in computer science or closely related field. (Or any equivalent combination of relevant experience and training.)

Requires two (2) years in supporting users and analyzing computer systems relevant to area of assignment including and in a system administrator role for Cisco Adaptive Appliance (ASA), routers, and switches.

Special Certifications and Licenses:
None.

Preferences:
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
CCNA/ CCNA Routing and Switching
Two (2) or more years experience configuring Cisco
Switch and routers
Two (2) or more years System Administration
experience with Cisco Prime at time of application and
Solar Winds
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
 

Maintain and configure switches and routers
Use of cognizant communications to translate customer requests into technical design documents
Provide support resolving Network problems that are especially difficult to diagnose, such as intermittent problems or those problems involving advanced networking issues
Maintain competency and enhance professional growth and development through networking, trade publications, continuing education, and conferences
Make recommendations to management on new network hardware, software, or related tools
Document production Infrastructure system design
Pro-actively analyzes, troubleshoots and resolves network issues
Handle day-to-day network related tickets
Document problems and resolutions
Conform to current service delivery system and maintain audit trail for all changes made
Work closely with Senior IT staff and ETS Management as to help with the Broward County Fiber, AT&T data circuits and Comcast
Ensure proper documentation through internal change control process
Provide after hour on call support and participate on an "on call" rotation
Manage DNS in an Active Directory environment and global DNS using BIND
Work with Solar winds in up-dating Devices inside the Network as to Kronos devices, Switches, routers, Servers, and etc.
Performs related work as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical Demands
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of fingers, hands, or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy.

Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment)
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

Involves routine and frequent exposure to electrical shocks.
