B-IMPACT-Nonprofit Career Exploration Internship
The B-IMPACT (Binghamton-Individuals Making People and Communities Thrive) summer internship program is designed to enhance students’ understanding and exposure to nonprofit organizations. This program is ideal for students who have a passion for community service and social change, and who are interested in exploring career paths in these areas. Spending the summer in Binghamton for the four-week internship (Summer Session I: May 28-June 28) will allow students interested in the nonprofit sector to gain a better understanding of the field, enhance their professional development and understanding of community engagement, and make professional connections with employers and alumni. Selected students will have the opportunity to work with the Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development and the Center of Civic Engagement to:
  • Earn 2 upper-level academic credits by attending a weekly internship seminar featuring alumni presenters and covering topics related to civic engagement and professional development
  • Complete an internship in the local community at a nonprofit organization for approximately 20 hours per week
  • Participate in a free one-day employer site visit in New York City to connect with alumni
  • Gain a better understanding of the nonprofit world and career opportunities in this field
