MISSION AND GOALS: The Saratoga Foundation for Women WorldWide, Inc. is an international, women's human rights education and advocacy group with women's interests at our epicenter. We are an accredited nongovernmental organization (ngo) which works in consultative status with the United Nations. We advance human rights, promote economic justice and work to improve environmental health with a specific focus on women of all ages and ethnic backgrounds around the globe. Our issues include biotechnology / genetically engineered food and food safety, reproductive rights and health care, environmental toxins and correlation with illnesses, pediatric health and economic justice. We operate several aid programs in Kenya: micro loans for poor women, books for school libraries, fund children's education, and more.
SCHEDULE: The Saratoga Foundation for Women WorldWide seeks internship candidates for the fall, winter/spring and summer semesters of each year.
QUALIFICATIONS: Government, women's studies and environmental studies majors/minors are invited to apply. Candidates must be a junior or senior and possess exceptional research, writing, computer and communication/networking skills. Individuals who possess a background in women's studies, government or environmental studies are preferred, however, all candidates are invited to apply. Candidates must possess a sense of humor.
POSITIONS AVAILABLE: Two unpaid Research Assistant positions are available each semester. Individuals must possess an interest in international women's human rights. Students who have a background in government, women's issues or environmental studies will find this internship exciting. Opportunity to learn how the actions of transnational corporations and governments worldwide affect women's human rights and environmental health. Students will study the operation of the United Nations, state legislatures and U.S. Congress and learn how to affect change. This is an activist internship where coverage of meetings/conferences in the field is encouraged. Several major research projects will be the focus of the internship as well as marketing/advertising and fund raising. Interns will work alongside the President who is a practicing attorney. Individuals should work with their advisor to arrange 3-6 credit hours for a ten-twenty hour work week.
