Neighborhood Ambassador Job Description
“Won’t you be my neighbor?” Neighborhood Ambassadors provide fellow students with information, resources and opportunities to create a better living environment in their off-campus neighborhood. They act as a liaison between campus, their assigned neighborhood, and student renters in order to enhance communication, collaboration and problem-solving. This position requires students to go door-to-door to speak with neighbors, deliver newsletters, plan neighborhood events and think critically about community issues. The Ambassadors work in a team setting and with the guidance of the Program Director to accomplish these tasks.
Qualifications
- University of Montana student enrolled in 6 credits or more
- 2.5 GPA or higher
- Preference given to those who live in/around the University District neighborhood
- Demonstrated community involvement, volunteerism, and/or leadership experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
Time Commitment
The work of a Neighborhood Ambassador has a flexible schedule that can include evenings and/or weekends. The following guidelines apply:
- Ambassadors will work an average of 7-8 hours/week
- No more than 75 hours per semester.
* it is your responsibility to create a schedule to meet the required hours each week, but you will receive assistance from the Program Director in completing this task.
