Accounting Intern: December 2018 - April 2019
Location: Waltham, Massachusetts
Minimum Time Commitment: 4 Months, 20 Hours per week minimum
Summary of Position: Our firm has excellent Internship opportunities for experienced students preparing for a career in the field of accounting. This position offers students with prior accounting, bookkeeping, and tax experiences an opportunity to demonstrate their acquired skills in a public accounting environment. Students work closely with Partners and Senior Staff members to achieve excellent results while applying knowledge and proficiency are among the highlights of this position.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of trial balances for numerous small businesses in a variety of industries
- Assist with reconciliations of balance sheet accounts. Produce inventory analyses
- Preparation of basic individual and corporate income tax returns
- Prepare applications for extension of filing individual and corporate income tax returns
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions including data entry, cash receipts and cash disbursements
- Prepare sales tax returns and payroll tax returns
- Assist clients with various registrations
- Provide general office support when necessary
Skills/Qualifications:
- Desire to accurately demonstrate competencies in the areas of accounting, bookkeeping, and tax
- Detail oriented individual with the ability to focus on any given task and see it through to achieve final results
- Third and fourth year BS/BA students currently enrolled in degree programs with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting
- Possess a working knowledge of some (if not all) of the following software programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Peachtree Accounting, QuickBooks and Quicken
